Forward Cox Business Voice to an AI receptionist

Keep your published number and forward calls to MyAIVoiceAgent when you want the agent to answer.

In dial codes below, XXXXXXXXXX is the ten-digit number you want calls forwarded to (your area code plus number, no +1). Anywhere you see “your MyAIVoiceAgent number”, use the MyAIVoiceAgent number from your account after you sign up.

Every call

  1. Lift the handset and listen for dial tone.
  2. Dial *72 and listen for dial tone.
  3. Dial the forward-to number exactly as you would call it (7-digit, 10-digit your MyAIVoiceAgent number, or 1 + area code if long distance).
  4. A stutter dial tone and then regular dial tone confirm it's on. Hang up.
  5. Or online: myaccount-business.cox.com > Services > Voice > Call Settings > Call Forwarding > Forward All Calls switch On > Edit > Forward To: your MyAIVoiceAgent number > Save.

To turn it off: Lift the handset, dial *73, wait for the confirmation tone, and hang up (or switch Forward All Calls off online). To change the number, do *73 first, then *72 with the new number.

Each forwarded call gives one short ring on your phone, and you can still make outgoing calls. Forwarding can't be enabled during an outage. International destinations are not allowed. Online, include the 1 for toll-free or long-distance numbers. Online setup needs a Cox Business phone number and the right admin permissions.

Only calls I miss

  1. Online: Call Forwarding page > Forward When No Answer switch On > Edit > Forward To: your MyAIVoiceAgent number > Rings Before: choose none to 20 > Save.
  2. By phone (VoiceManager / IP Centrex): *92 = Call Forwarding No Answer; *90 = Call Forwarding Busy; *94 = Call Forwarding Not Reachable. The system prompts for the number.

To turn it off: *93 (no answer), *91 (busy), *95 (not reachable), or switch off online.

Busy and Not Reachable rules are also available online (Forward When Busy, Forward When Not Reachable).

After hours

  1. myaccount-business.cox.com > Voice > Call Settings > Call Forwarding > next to Call Forwarding Selective, click Add.
  2. Enter a rule name, set When Receiving Calls From to Any Phone Number, choose Forward Calls, and enter your MyAIVoiceAgent number.
  3. Choose or create a Regular Schedule (start/end date and time, Recurs: Daily/Weekly/etc.). If you also use a Holiday Schedule, set that up first.
  4. Save the rule, then Save the Call Forwarding settings.

To turn it off: Delete or turn off the rule online. By phone, #77 turns off Call Forwarding Selective (#76 turns it on; a default forwarding number must already be set).

Cox says forwarding options depend on the service package purchased, so Call Forwarding Selective may not be on every account.
