Forward 8x8 Work to an AI receptionist
Keep your published number and forward calls to MyAIVoiceAgent when you want the agent to answer.
In dial codes below, XXXXXXXXXX is the ten-digit number you want calls forwarded to (your area code plus number, no +1). Anywhere you see “your MyAIVoiceAgent number”, use the MyAIVoiceAgent number from your account after you sign up.
Every call
- Open 8x8 Work for Desktop and go to Settings, Account settings, then Call forwarding rules.
- Enable Forward all calls or Always forward calls.
- Choose Forward to a selected user or external number and enter your MyAIVoiceAgent number with country code.
- Save the rule.
To turn it off: Disable Forward all calls or Always forward calls in Call forwarding rules.
Mobile app: Account Settings, turn off Always forward calls. Admin Console can set Forward all Calls per user under Users, Call Forwarding.
Only calls I miss
- In 8x8 Work, open Settings, Account settings, Call forwarding rules.
- Enable When you do not answer within a certain period of time.
- Edit the rule and select Forward to a selected user or external number.
- Enter your MyAIVoiceAgent number and save.
- Admin alternative: Admin Console, Users, edit user, Call Forwarding, enable When User does not Answer the Call, then Selected Users or External Numbers with your MyAIVoiceAgent number.
To turn it off: Turn off the no-answer forwarding rule or change it to voicemail.
Default no-answer timer is about 15 to 25 seconds depending on client. Include country code for external numbers.
After hours
- In 8x8 Work, open Settings, Account settings, Call forwarding rules.
- Click Add New Rule and name the after-hours rule.
- Set the rule to apply on a specified schedule for non-business hours.
- Choose Forward to an external number and enter your MyAIVoiceAgent number, then save.
To turn it off: Delete or disable the scheduled custom rule.
Custom rules can also drop calls or forward on busy or internet-down events. Admin Console offers similar per-user forwarding checkboxes.
